Salvador Perez got an RBI single in the third inning and solo home runs by Edward Olivares and Drew Waters in the fourth and fifth innings.
Minnesota got its lone run in the sixth inning.
The Royals added their final run in the eighth on a Nate Eaton RBI double.
Jonathan Heasley was the winning pitcher going six innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three.
