Officially, it’s being called a electrocution. Both Fanestil Meats owner Dan Smoots and Lyon County Undersheriff John Koelsch tell KVOE News the situation was more of an electric shock than a full-blown electrocution.
The incident happened at Fanestil Meats’ campus at 4700 West US Highway 50 around 9:15 am, and it happened inside the new construction area in the east half of the building. Emporia Fire Capt. Ben Lienemann tells KVOE News a man fell off a ladder after the shock.
Koelsch, meanwhile, says the man walked to a nearby cot and was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. Smoots says the electrical contract worker received a minor shock and was released to return to work but the contractor sent him home.
