Flu shots are being made available for Veterans in the near future.
The clinic put on the Department of Veterans Affairs will be from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 11 at American Legion Post 5 in Emporia.
On KVOE’s Morning Show Monday, Acting Chief of Communications for VA Sarah Dernovish says they want to make it possible for Veterans to have access to get a flu shot.
Emporia is one of 13 sites nationwide that has an ATLAS (Accessing Telehealth through Local Area Stations) Station. Manager of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention for VA Jackie Mankin says Emporia is fortunate to have one which opened in July.
Out of the 13 stations nationwide, Emporia’s station is the fifth most used.
For Veterans to be able to get their flu shot, they must bring their VA Card to the clinic.
