After a two-year break due to COVID-19, the Flint Hills Senior Life Fair is returning.
This year’s event will take place on Wednesday October 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Anderson Building on the Lyon County Fairgrounds.
On KVOE’s Morning Show Tuesday, Organizer Vicki Brooks says there’s hardly any changes even with being away for two years.
Brooks added its important that seniors be educated and learn from the fair.
26 different vendors will be available for seniors to go through. Health screenings are also being made available from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Three education sessions will take place throughout the day. At 9:15 a.m. local attorney Larry Putman will provide Estate planning tips. That will be followed by a session by Rhonda Gordon titled “Medicare Basics” at 10:30 a.m. The third education session will take place after lunch with Dr. Erin Blocker providing a session titled “Leap into Health Aging.”
Lunch will be catered by the Olpe Chicken House and music will be provided by the Emporia High School Ensemble.
L-CAT will also be providing free transportation to the fair. For a ride, call L-CAT at (620) 343-4207.
The event is free, but there will be a $10 fee if you are planning to eat lunch. You can pick up a registration form at any one of the Lyon County Senior Centers, Newman Regional Health Information Desk or Horizon Plaza.
The deadline for registration is Wednesday.
