The Emporia State football team scored the first 17 points of the game and never trailed on the way to a 44-27 win over Central Missouri Saturday.
Quarterback Braden Gleason threw for 317 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Tyler Kahmann caught 10 passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns including one at the end of the first half that game the Hornets a 24-7 lead at halftime.
Corey Thomas had 6 catches for 111 yards including a 45-yard reception for a touchdown.
Canaan Brooks finished with 134 yards rushing on the day.
Freshman kicker Cade Dodson added 3 field goals of 34 yards, 31 yards, and 34 yards.
Senior safety Jaedon Pool said they were prepared for Central Missouri.

With the win, the Hornets improve to 4-2 for the season. They play at Nebraska Kearney next Saturday.
