Thunderstorm chances are in the area forecast Monday night into Wednesday morning. The Storm Prediction Center says there is an outside chance of a severe storm Tuesday.
The SPC says storms may develop across the eastern half of Kansas by late afternoon and move into Missouri. Storms may bring hail and marginally severe winds up to 60 mph.
Residents wanting or needing rainfall, given the deepening drought areawide, could well be disappointed. The National Weather Service expects widespread rain totals of around 0.25 inches. Isolated higher amounts are possible. Those kinds of rain amounts will likely have little to no positive impact on the current drought, which ranges from moderate to extreme north to south across the KVOE listening area. Rainfall amounts after Tuesday afternoon will also come too late to affect Thursday’s weekly update from the US Drought Monitor.
