October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and SOS Inc. is beginning a new campaign aimed at increasing awareness across the community.
SOS Director Connie Cahoone announced the “Stand up Against Domestic Violence” digital media campaign during a recent appearance on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia.
Roughly 20 signs will be displayed at local businesses and front yards across the community over the next month.
On average, one in every three women and one in every four men have been a victim of physical violence by an intimate partner. Cahoone says abuse can often be “subtle” enough that it escapes attention even for the victims themselves.
