Lockdown procedures will have the attention of the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education this week.
Board members will get a presentation on what lockdowns entail, events that trigger lockdowns and the ways the school district may respond to urgent or emergency situations.
This discussion point follows a lockdown Sept. 20 involving Emporia High, Emporia Middle School and the USD 253 Transitions program at Flint Hills Technical College.
Construction matters will dominate much of the agenda from there, including an overall Building for the Future bond renovation update, separate items for a partial roof replacement and parking lot resurfacing at Emporia High and the purchase of pedestrian crossings for Emporia High, Emporia Middle School, Village and Walnut.
The meeting starts at 5:30 pm at Mary Herbert.
