Details are still pending after a train-pedestrial incident in far east Emporia early Tuesday.
One person was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train at the railroad crossing just south of 12th and Whildin. Emporia Police and Emporia Fire responded just after 1:30 pm.
Police Capt. Lisa Hayes says officers have been working to both identify the victim and notify next of kin. Further details could be released once those processes are done.

Emporia Police officers say one person is dead after a pedestrian-train incident in east Emporia early Tuesday.
Police and Emporia Fire were called to the railroad junction near 12th and Whildin shortly after 1:30 am. The person was apparently hit by an Amtrak train. Other details are currently pending.
The intersection has been blocked since the incident was reported. There is no word on when it will reopen.
