USD 252 Southern Lyon County is the education home of the 2023 Kansas Superintendent of the Year.
Dr. Mike Argabright received the honor from the Kansas School Superintendents Association during a special presentation at Olpe Jr/Sr. High School Tuesday morning. He says it’s very humbling to receive the honor.
Argabright has been in education for nearly 40 years and has led Southern Lyon County for 16 years after a tenure at USD 389 Eureka. Outside of the district, Argabright has been involved in many community projects including the Newman Regional Health Board of Trustees, United Way of the Flint Hills, Ignite Emporia, SOS, Emporia Friends of the Zoo and others. He’s also involved in a host of statewide education organizations.
Even if his name is on the honor, he couldn’t have done it without the help of his staff.
Kansas School Superintendents Association Executive Director G.A. Buie says Argabright is well deserving of the honor.
Students and staff from Olpe, Neosho Rapids and Hartford attended the special presentation.
