Emporia Main Street is reporting a positive spillover effect from a recent national conference held locally.
Following the Rural Rise Summit held in downtown Emporia late last month, Main Street Director Casey Woods says a lot of regional and national organizations are connecting with Main Street.
Rural Rise brought a number of economic development entities and about 125 participants from across the country for networking and information.
The conference actually sets the stage for the next economic development meeting Thursday and Friday at the Emporia Arts Center.
Woods says Wagner was also part of Rural Rise, and bringing him to Emporia twice in three weeks bodes well for upcoming economic development efforts.
Woods also says Emporia Main Street has done its best to bolster “maker” businesses through loans, training and the new Fab Lab because of their ability to shorten supply chains, keep wealth local and encourage residents from outside the area to spend money in Emporia.
