Emporians are encouraged to learn more about an upcoming street project.
The city has scheduled a public information meeting next as work is planned for Highland Street between 12th and 16th. The meeting will be at 6 pm Oct. 19 at Civic Auditorium City Conference Room 1AB. All property owners and interested community members are welcome to attend.
Earlier this year, Emporia secured a $750,000 dollar-for-dollar match from the state for improvements including new pavement, new sewer lines and new water lines. Work could take up to six months to complete once it begins in February. The project is currently in the design phase and could be ready for bid by early next year.
