The Emporia State soccer team will be playing the final 4 matches of the regular season without Head Coach Bryan Sailer.
He is sitting out the 4 matches after inadvertently coaching in a match after receiving 5 yellow cards. The NCAA rule is a coach must sit out a match after receiving 5 yellow cards.
Since Coach Sailer did not realize he had accumulated 5 yellow cards and coached the next match the penalty is he must sit out 4 matches.
He will be able to return to the sidelines in time for the start of the MIAA tournament.
The Lady Hornets will host Newman and Central Oklahoma Friday and Sunday.
They will close out the season with home matches against Nebraska Kearney and Washburn.
Assistants Kailey Corr and Chloe Flynn will handle in-game duties.
The Emporia State soccer team takes a 4-match winning streak into Friday’s match with Newman. Senior Joanie Westcoat, this week’s MIAA defensive player of the week, says it took some time but they are now clicking.
Kick-off for Friday’s match on the Emporia State pitch is set for 3 pm.
