It was another rough night for the Emporia High football team at Washburn Rural Friday night.
The Spartans allowed the Junior Blues to score the first 49 points of the game, 37 of them coming in the first quarter in a 49-14 loss.
Emporia High managed to get on the board in the second half with a running clock in effect. Sheldon Stewart threw two touchdowns, a 19-yard touchdown to Jaxon Dial and a 35-yard touchdown to Parker Leeds.
The Spartans were held to 43 yards of total offense in the first half and had 155 in the second half for 198 yards for the game.
Stewart went 15-of-23 passing the ball for 193 yards and two touchdowns and added 10 yards rushing on three carries.
Dial had 84 yards receiving on four catches and a touchdown.
The Spartans are now 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in Centennial League play. They’ll host Junction City next Friday at Welch Stadium for Senior Night.
