Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow will be hosting the latest Hispanic Heritage Month celebration this weekend.
The celebration will take place Saturday afternoon inside of the Lyon County History Center at 711 Commercial Street. According to Rebeca Hererra of HOTT, the event will be free and open to the public and will include a plethora of historical information on some of the most iconic figures within the Hispanic community.
As mentioned, this is just the latest event to be held in the Emporia community commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month following activities such as Empovia, Emporia State University’s kickoff celebration and a recent fiesta at Las Casitas Park. Sally Sanchez of HOTT says she is very proud of how the community has supported the range of activities over the past month.
The event will include refreshments, live music from Jaime Izaguirre and Erick Sanchez, performances by Folklorico Dancers and a short program. The celebration will run from 3 to 4 pm.
Saturday’s celebration comes just ahead of HOTT’s annual Dia De Los Muertos celebration in dowtown Emporia from 10:30 am to 5 pm on Saturday, Oct. 29.
