Emporia High freshman Kali Keough medaled in her first trip to the Class 5A state tournament Saturday in Andover.
Keough defeated Jackie Ackerman of Kapaun Mt. Carmel, 9-2, in her first match of the day. She then had to default her final two matches to finish in eighth place.
Over the course of the two-day tournament, Keough finished with a record of 2-3. She finishes the season with a 25-11 record.
EHS finished in a tie for 12th as a team with seven points. The Spartans also had the doubles team of freshman Peyton Chanley and junior Ashlynn Foraker qualify for state and went 0-2 on Friday.
