Kansas Lt. Governor David Toland made a campaign stop in Emporia Monday evening.
When asked about the progress of the campaign thus far, Toland stated “things are going great.” He says he and Kansas Governor Laura Kelly are “running on our record.”
During Monday’s event, Toland stated if re-elected the Kelly administration has two immediate pieces of business they’ll look to resolve.
Toland claims the state’s sales tax is an item that should have been resolved earlier this year.
Toland stated Monday the crowd in attendance contained a large mix of both Democrats and non-Democrats, something he says has been a regular occurrence at many of their events over the campaign.
Governor Kelly was originally set to attend Monday’s event, however, she had to cancel her appearance due to a “family emergency” according to her staff on hand. Kelly and Toland are set to face Republican challengers Derek Schmidt and Katie Sawyer in the general election on Nov. 8.
