Open enrollment is now open for Medicare Part D and three local agencies are teaming up this year to help make the Medicare process as simple as possible.
Newman Regional Health, the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging and Lyon County Extension will be hosting an informational town hall event Nov. 1 at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building. The event is free to the public and will include a dinner and information on the differences between various plans.
Newman Director of Business Development Steven Bazaan says this event is an effort to bring all of the local “voices” on medicare under one roof.
In addition to the town hall, there will be several opportunities for area residents to sit down and speak with Medicare experts. The list of events is as follows:
Oct. 24 North Lyon County Senior Center – Allen
Oct. 28 Hartford Community Center
Nov. 2-3 Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building – Emporia
Nov. 7 American Legion – Emporia
Nov. 15 Knights of Columbus Hall – Olpe
Nov. 16 Neosho Rapids Community Building
Nov. 19 Friendship Center – Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow (H.O.T.T) Emporia
Travis Carmichael of Lyon County Extension says there are a few crucial items individuals need to bring with them to appointments.
