Jury trial is approaching for one man accused in Lyon County District Court of aggravated sexual battery against a child.
Peter McDonald III has a pretrial hearing at 4 pm Wednesday. Trial is tentatively set to begin Monday but could start on Halloween.
McDonald is accused of alleged sexual involvement with a 16-year-old in early March. He’s formally charged with aggravated sexual battery, attempted aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated burglary.
Separately, a status hearing is coming this week for a man accused in Lyon County District of aggravated child endangerment and other charges.
Ethan Nowell’s hearing is at 4 pm Wednesday and is the last hearing scheduled before jury trial in his case. Trial could begin Monday, but it could also begin Nov. 14 or Dec. 5.
Nowell faces nine total counts, including single counts of aggravated child endangerment, aggravated battery, battery, criminal threat, criminal restraint and marijuana, methamphetamine and paraphernalia possession. Case details have not been announced.
In addition, a preliminary hearing is now on the docket in a Lyon County attempted murder case.
Matthew Schroeder will be back in court Nov. 21 after his first official court appearance Monday.
Schroeder, 41, stands accused of attempted first-degree murder with an alternate count of aggravated domestic battery. He’s also accused of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary and criminal restraint. Details have not been announced, but court records indicate Schroeder allegedly tried to kill a woman last week.
