Additional programming, faculty and a new facility are coming to the Emporia State University nursing department as part of ESU’s reinvestment for the future initiative.
The university announced Wednesday afternoon it will be creating two additional programs within the department, an online RN to BSN program for those already working as registered nurses and a master of science in nursing program. Three new faculty positions will be created to help facilitate the new programming.
Additionally, the department is in the process of finalizing a move from the Newman Regional Health campus to the ESU campus by the fall of 2025. ESU Vice President for infrastructure Cory Falldine states the university is planning to create “the most effective space possible” for nursing students.
A $5 million allocation from the state of Kansas will go towards assisting with the planned move with the ESU Foundation being a “critical partner” in the move.
This is the fourth reinvestment announcement by the university over the past five weeks under the ESU framework for workforce management which was approved by the Kansas Board of Regents back in mid-September. Additional plans include updates and investments in the art, music and business departments.
