If you have strolled through downtown Emporia recently, it’s safe to say you have noticed some very important faces adorning the lamposts and streets.
Emporia Main Street has begun hanging veterans banners as part of All Veterans Tribute activities. This is the eighth year for the veterans banner program in Emporia.
Main Street Director Casey Woods says in under a decade, the program has expanded far beyond just the Emporia community.
Woods says the interest from local residents to be a part of the project continues to rise at a tremendous level each year.
This is the eighth year for the veterans banner project which began back in 2014. Maps will be available through Emporia Main Street detailing the location of every banner making it easier for family members to locate their veteran.
The hanging of banners comes ahead of the 19th annual Freedom Fest scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 5th. Registration for all events is currently open.
You can find a full schedule and registration information online at EmporiaFreedomFest.org.
