Visit Emporia took home three major awards as part of the Travel Industry Associates of Kansas’ annual State Tourism Conference.
Visit Emporia took first place for its Visitors Guide and its Pocket Guidebook. It also claimed the People’s Choice award for its bike chariots rollout. Director LeLan Dains was grateful for the awards.
Dains credited Visit Emporia’s staff and the partnerships in place with local businesses like IM Design.
Dains was also a presenter at the conference on diversity and language inclusion. He says tourism has to reflect communities, and the Emporia is getting more diverse with larger Hispanic and Asian populations the past 20 years. He says Visit Emporia will be offering more of its publications in bilingual or multilingual formats down the road.
