Emporia Fire was called out to two different small fires early Thursday evening.
A cooking pot left on a stove caused cosmetic cabinet damage in an East Emporia apartment Thursday afternoon.
Emporia Fire was called out just after 4 p.m. to 905 East Street Apt 12 for a structure fire.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says the fire did not extend from that pot. Emporia Fire had to air out the apartment and take the cooking pot off the stove.
The second fire was a brush fire in an empty trailer park lot across from 418 La Jara Lane.
Steinlage says it was an illegal burn. Tree branches were burning on the ground. Emporia Fire extinguished it with water.
No injuries were reported.
