The Chase County Bulldogs rolled into the second round of the 8-man Division 1 playoffs with a 54-6 win over Sedan Thursday night.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the game by junior Brock Griffin. The Bulldogs would strike three more times in the first half thanks to a 25-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Mitch Budke to junior Tucker Groh and two rushing touchdowns by Budke to take a 32-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Budke would score three more times on the ground to close out the win midway through the third. Budke ended the night with six total touchdowns.
He says it wasn’t their cleanest game, but it was still a good win.
Head Coach Brody Vandegrift says his team is playing with an expectation to win.
Sedan’s lone touchdown on the night came on a 39-yard pass from junior quarterback Jeremiah Prince to senior Karson Stout early in the third quarter.
With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 8-1 on the year and will travel to South Sumner next week.
Lebo shut out Rural Vista 58-0. They will host Frankfort in round 2.
Burlingame defeated Flinthills 52-6. They will play the winner of Friday’s game between Wichita Independent and Goessel in the 2nd round.
Lyndon outscored West Elk 42-38. They will play at Moundridge in the second round.
Osage City was a 50-14 winner over Riverton. They will host Humboldt in round 2.
Burrton defeated Southern Coffey County 73-24.
Hartford defeated Fairfield 64-14.
Doniphan West outscored Marais des Cygnes Valley 70-32.

Columbus at Burlington
Northern Heights hosts Southeast Cherokee.
