The Emporia State football team is back in the AFCA Top 25 this week.
After a 42-14 win over Fort Hays State on Saturday, the Hornets are ranked 23rd. The win extended ESU’s winning streak to five games and are now 7-2 on the season.
Out of the MIAA Pittsburg State is ranked 5th and Northwest Missouri State is ranked 11th.
Grand Valley State which is also in Super Region III is ranked number 1.
The Hornets are ranked No. 9 in the Super Region III rankings. ESU joins two other MIAA schools in the rankings with Pittsburg State ranked No. 2 and Northwest Missouri State is No. 10.
Grand Valley State is number 1. The top 7 teams in the region will advance to the playoffs.
Emporia State junior Ross Brungardt was named the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week. He had six punts with an average of 40.8 yards per punt. He is ranked 14th in the nation in punting at 42.3 yards per punt.
ESU plays at Lincoln on Saturday with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
