The Emporia High football team looks to keep its season alive Thursday when it travels to Blue Valley Southwest.
The game was moved up from Friday to Thursday due to potential weather on Friday.
It’s the second meeting between the two schools in three seasons. Blue Valley Southwest won the first matchup 36-15 in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs in 2020. EHS is 2-7, while Blue Valley Southwest is 4-5.
A win could get Emporia High back to the sectional round since 2012.
Emporia High coach Keaton Tuttle said he sees similarities between the two teams.
Senior Jaden Thomas says the Spartans know what’s ahead of them.
Senior Brayden Criger shifted to running back last week. He said it reminded him of when he used to play the position in middle school.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Antioch District Activities Complex. You can listen to the game on 14 KVOE-AM/96.9 FM with coverage beginning at 6:40 p.m.
