The United Way of the Flint Hills is partnering with Lyon County State Bank, Emporia Police Department and Agler & Gaeddert Chartered to offer a Preventing Theft workshop to local non-profit agencies.
The workshop is focused on sharing strategies about how to prevent fraud, embezzlement and other types of theft that can put at risk non-profit agencies and how this can impact their work with the community.
The United Way fundraising drive co-chair and EPD captain Lisa Hayes, says the workshop was created because there is usually no training about preventing theft to every member of the agencies aside from the treasurer.
The workshop is free and will take place from noon to 3 pm on Nov. 16 at the Lyon County State Bank community room where lunch will also be provided. Non-profit agencies who want to attend need to rsvp by Nov. 9 at www.uwfh.org/registration.
