The KVOE Mitten Trees are now up and residents have until next month to help decorate them for a great cause.
Residents are asked to adorn the trees with donations of winter clothing such as scarves, jackets, earmuffs and of course mittens. All donations will go to support SOS clientele as part of the agency’s annual Holiday drive efforts.
SOS Shelter Manager Adelle Clark, a recent guest of KVOE’s Morning Show, says during these colder months, something as simple as a warm pair of gloves can make a major difference in someone’s life.
Mitten trees can be found at the following locations:
*Bluestem Farm & Ranch Supply – 2611 W. Hwy 50
*Flint Hills Mall (compliments of NexTech Wireless) – 1632 Industrial
*Graves Drugs – 609 Commercial
*Mel’s Tire – 915 Graham St.
*Skin Studio – 710 Commercial
*Emporia Public Library (compliments of Cargill, Inc.) – 110 E. 6th Ave
*Trox Gallery and Gifts and Gravel City Roasters – 715 Commercial
All donations will be collected on Dec. 8. For more information CLICK HERE.
As previously mentioned, the Mitten Trees are just part of SOS’s larger Holiday Drive which also includes the opportunity for residents to adopt families and help alleviate some of the “stress of the holidays.” SOS representative Cara Codney says she and her sister adopted families as part of the drive in the past and tells KVOE News it is a gratifying endeavor.
