Emporia High will be searching for a new softball coach.
Aaron Hammond resigned from his position that was approved by the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education Wednesday night. Hammond has been the Spartans’ coach since the 2021 season.
He also was an assistant coach under Troy Chapman both for the Spartans and during the summer season. Hammond succeeded Chapman after Chapman stepped down after 11 seasons in 2020.
Hammond declined an interview with KVOE Sports regarding his decision.
Emporia High athletic director Beau Welch said a search is underway for a new softball coach.
