The second of four finalists for Emporia State University’s Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs position had his visit to campus Thursday.
Current Northwest Missouri State associate provost of graduate and professional studies Greg Haddock spoke with KVOE News prior to his community forum with staff, students and community members and says the proud history of ESU is what enticed him to apply for the position.
The finalist interviews come as ESU continues its reinvestment for the future initiative under the framework for workforce management plan approved nearly two months ago by the Board of Regents. The plan has notably drawn criticism from some in the community, however, Haddock says that has not been a deterrent for him.
He believes the changes ongoing at ESU are an exciting opportunity and one that can help to quell some of the national debate as to the value of higher learning.
Haddock has been at Northwest Missouri since 1996, initially serving as a professor before being elevated to acting dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies in 2011 — while also serving at the time as vice provost and graduate dean.
Haddock follows Dr. Sean Lane who had his official campus visit Wednesday afternoon. Two more finalist interviews are scheduled for Monday and Thursday with information on the finalists to be announced before the end of the week.
