Big Brothers Big Sisters Serving Lyon County is looking for people to decorate some trees for its latest fundraiser.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is in the early stages of its first-ever Festival of Trees, and Director Jacque Wellnitz says time is running out to register. Wellnitz says it’s simple to get involved.
Trees need to be registered by Tuesday. There is no cost to register a tree, and registrations can be done online at kansasbigs.org. Decoration will take place at Flinthills Mall from 12-4 pm Sunday. The trees will then be displayed for a week before the auction Nov. 28 to generate funds supporting the Big Brothers Big Sisters goal of one-to-one mentorship for local and area youth.
In addition, Big Brothers Big Sisters has several activities coming at the mall next week. The Emporia High Choir will perform Nov. 21, a Miss Kansas meet-and-greet on Nov. 22 and a hot cocoa night Nov. 23.
