Albert Taylor Hall held a special concert Tuesday night.
The Emporia Symphony Orchestra partnered with Emporia At the Table for a concert called “Our Town: Feeding the Community Through Music.” Orchestra conductor Ramiro Miranda says it may not be the last collaboration between the two organizations.
Emporia at the Table works to raise community awareness about different food-related needs, including food insecurity. EAT Initiative co-founder Dr. Rebecca Rodriguez Carey says food insecurity is a larger local issue than most people may realize.
Residents could donate at least two non-perishable food items in lieu of the normal $5 admission cost. Totals are pending. Proceeds will be split among different food pantries in Emporia.
