The Emporia State Music Department is offering a weekend full of music with two upcoming concerts.
The department will be collaborating with the United Way for a special fundraising jazz concert Thursday night. The concert starts at 7 pm at Albert Taylor Hall and the entrance is free with a freewill donation accepted.
The second presentation Albert Taylor Hall will host is the 16th annual Honors Band concert at 4 pm Saturday.
Gary Ziek, professor of the ESU Music Department, says this year around 120 students from 14 different high schools will be coming together to perform in Saturday’s concert. He says this is a great opportunity for the students involved.
The ESU Music Department sent recommendation forms to the different high schools and then the high schools selected the best students they wanted to nominate for this event. This concert also serves the ESU Music Department as a way to recruit new students.
