The US Department of Agriculture is offering additional emergency relief and pandemic assistance to ag producers.
Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says the USDA will soon rollout Emergency Relief Program Phase Two and a new Pandemic Assistance Revenue Program, both designed to help offset crop and/or revenue losses:
*Emergency Relief Phase Two will measure crop losses through decreases in revenue due to weather events like wildfires, storms of all sorts, excessive heat, smoke exposure, excessive moisture and qualifying droughts involving calendar years 2020 and 2021.
*Pandemic Assistance Revenue will help eligible producers who had decreased revenue in 2020 compared to 2018 or 2019 due to COVID-19. Losses will be measured by price loss or loss of market access.
Producers have until Dec. 16 to apply for Emergency Relief Phase One. Deadlines for Phase Two and Pandemic Assistance Revenue have not been announced.
