The Kansas Jayhawks had to hold off Southern Utah Friday night, 82-76.
Southern Utah led by as many as six, 22-16, before the Jayhawks took a 41-39 lead at halftime.
KU led by as many as eight, 77-69 with 2:11 to play before the Thunderbirds used a 7-0 run to pull within one, but not any closer.
Jalen Wilson led the Jayhawks setting a new career-high with 33 points.
Gradey Dick added 18 points and Dajuan Harris had 14 points.
The game was also the final game of assistant coach Norm Roberts filling in for Bill Self. Self will return for the Jayhawks when they travel to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis.
Kansas improved to 4-0 on the season. They’ll open up the Battle 4 Atlantis against North Carolina State at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
