Lyon County Commissioners met a day earlier than normal Wednesday morning due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
During the meeting, commissioners approved a $20,000 donation to Ignite Emporia. Back in 2019, the county entered into a five-year financial commitment with the agency.
Wednesday’s contribution was the third of five annual contributions under that commitment.
In other business, commissioners approved a request from the city of Americus to close Main Street, County Road F, from Walnut to Broadway on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 6 to 8 pm. The closure is to accommodate the town’s annual lighted Christmas Parade.
Commissioners also held a pair of executive sessions with no action taken.
Commissioners will reconvene for their weekly meeting next Thursday at 9 am inside of the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
