After a 17-6 season and an appearance in the Class 5A state tournament, the Emporia High girls basketball team has its eyes on another strong season.
However, it’ll have to rebuild after a class of eight seniors graduated. The Spartans have three seniors in Rebecca Snyder, Arianna Hamilton, and Delaney Adams.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says the returners the Spartans have back learned from the group that helped them get to the state tournament.
Snyder says roles will be increased with scoring, knowing they can be good on the defensive end.
Also returning from last season that saw some playing time include juniors Alexa Shively, Addie Kirmer, Ryan Peak and Teegan Baker.
The Spartans open up on December 2nd with a trip to Ottawa. Emporia High will see the return of the Paul Terry Classic on Dec. 8-10 to be held at White Auditorium. Emporia High will face Spring Hill, Hayden, and Wichita Trinity. The Spartans round out their pre-Christmas schedule with Shawnee Mission North on December 13 and a trip to Great Bend on Dec. 16. The Centennial League opener for the Spartans is Jan. 3 at home against Hayden.
