Chase County is welcoming one and all to its annual Country Christmas.
Activities begin Friday evening with the Kid’s Night Before Christmas Out in Strong City and the Country Christmas Contra Dance in Cottonwood Falls. A lot is happening Saturday:
*9 am-3 pm: Arts and crafts fair, St. Anthony’s Parish Hall, Strong City
*9 am-5 pm: Prairie PastTimes Christmas open house, Cottonwood Falls
*10 am-4:30 pm: Silent auction and tours, Old Chase County School, Cottonwood Falls. Lunch will be served between 11 am-2 pm
*3-5 pm: Santa’s Reindeer, Chase County Courthouse lawn, Cottonwood Falls
*4-5:30 pm: Cowboy Santa, Chase County Courthouse
6 pm: Lighting of the Chase County Courthouse and Historic River Bridge
*6:05 pm: Parade, Cottonwood Falls

Meanwhile, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is holding its annual Prairie Christmas from 12-4 pm. Activities will include music, crafts and readings of ” ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Residents can also observe some of the major rehabilitation work at the preserve’s ranch house from the past year, including wheelchair accessibility, stone terrace work, porch repair and improved drainage.
