Many visitors arrived at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve to celebrate Christmas at the Prairie this Saturday.
In a partnership with Country Christmas organized by Chase County, the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve gathered different activities for visitors that included storytelling, music and Christmas decorations.
Chief of Interpretation Heather Brown says they try to focus on different periods of time to recreate for the visitors and give them a perspective of how things were back then.
The storytelling of Twas the Night Before Christmas was the activity most families and kids enjoyed.
Marna Schowalter a volunteer at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve says she has been portraying different characters to give a visual image of history to visitors. This time she portrayed Mrs. Jones and read the book to the kids.
Steve Schowalter a volunteer at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve who portrayed a cowboy for the storytelling says he has tried to motivate others to reenact to bring history alive.
