Emporia State University’s Department of Nursing is giving local residents an opportunity to register to save a life this week.
ESU nursing students will be taking part in a day-long mobile bone marrow registration drive starting at 9 am Tuesday. The drive will see nursing students at four different locations signing up potential donors.
Students will be at the following locations:
*Memorial Union, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
*Newman Regional Health, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
*ESU men’s basketball game @ White Auditorium, 4 p.m.
*Emporia Christmas Parade, 7 p.m.
The registration drive comes as part of a partnership between the university and former Olympian Earl Young which began back in 2016. Young is scheduled to be in Emporia as part of the drive.
Students will have designated areas during the drive except during the Christmas Parade. Residents interested in registering during the parade will need to locate students who will be carrying red bags with the letters DKMS printed on them.
