Kansas football coach Lance Leipold signed a new contract with the Jayhawks, Director of Athletics Travis Goff announced Tuesday.
Leipold’s new contract is through the 2029 season. His base salary will be $500,000 and will also receive $4,500,000 in a “Professional Services Payment” on a yearly basis. The “Professional Services Payment” part is a “Multimedia Activities” section which increases by $100,000 each year.
Other contract details released include Leipold’s assistant coach salary pool will be $5,000,000 and will increase by $100,000 each year. Also, there’s a $2,500,000 pool for staff that excludes the head coach, an assistant coach, or the head strength coach. That pool will increase by $100,000 each year.
Leipold also received a one-time signing bonus of $750,000.
Leipold is in his second year as the Jayhawks’ head coach. He’s led Kansas to its first Big 12 road win in 13 seasons and bowl eligibility for the first time since 2008 and the program’s first 5-0 start since 2009.
