Emporia Police officers say a traffic infraction led to a vehicle chase, a foot pursuit and an arrest Wednesday morning.
Police Capt. Ray Mattas says an officer noted a traffic infraction at 11th and Cottonwood and tried to make a vehicle stop, but the driver, later identified as 41-year-old Jon Buchanan III, drove away. Buchanan allegedly stopped his vehicle in the 100 block of East 11th, got out and fled on foot.
Buchanan was captured in the 1000 block of Exchange. The car he was driving actually rolled away from its parking spot and collided with a parked car nearby,
Buchanan was arrested on suspicion of flee and elude, interference with law enforcement and unspecified traffic offenses. Formal charges are currently pending.

Details are currently sparse, but an arrest has been made after a foot pursuit in Emporia on Wednesday.
Emporia Police officers were called to 10th and Union around 7:40 am. One man was arrested shortly after the foot chase began.
Officers have not released the suspect’s name and have not divulged any information about what led to the chase.
