The Emporia High basketball teams open up their seasons Friday night at Ottawa.
The Lady Spartans look to get their first win with a new group. EHS only returned two starters, junior Alexa Shively and senior Rebecca Snyder along with junior Addie Kirmer who played significant minutes last season.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says they’ve got to come out and play tough.
Shively says the Lady Spartans need to adjust to their new roles in a hurry.
Meanwhile, the Spartans look to start the Lee Baldwin era out on a high note.
Coach Baldwin says after a rough practice on Saturday, the Spartans have bounced back to have a strong week of practices before Friday’s game. He says if the Spartans want to be a good team, they’ve got to be tested early on the road.
Senior Drew Hess says the Spartans need to be confident in themselves.
Tipoff for the girls game is set for 6 p.m. with the boys game to follow at 7:30 p.m. You can listen to the games on 14 KVOE-AM/96.9 FM with coverage beginning at 5:45 p.m.
