The Emporia State basketball teams picked up wins over Washburn Saturday.
The Lady Hornets defeated Washburn 58-43. They overcame an early 6-0 deficit. They would go on a 10 -0 run in the 2nd quarter and 12-0 run in the 3rd quarter to build a lead they would not give up.
Tre’Zure Jobe scored 18 points to lead the Emporia State women. Freshman Stevie Stinchcomb added 14 points.
The Lady Hornets are now 5-1 for the season and 1-0 in MIAA play.
The Emporia State men defeated Washburn 74-63. Owen Long scored 19 points to lead the Hornes in scoring. Kaden Evans added 14 points and Alijah Comithier finished with 11 points. The Emporia State men improve to 6-0 for the season and 1-0 in MIAA play.
Both the women and men play at Rogers State on Thursday.
