The Office of Kansas State Fire Marshal continues its investigation into a damaging house fire in Osage City early Monday.
The fire at 403 Lakin was reported just before 4 am. The occupant and his dog got out safely. The fire left the walls standing but damaged the interior.
The cause and origination point are under investigation at this time.
Numerous departments responded, including fire departments from Osage City, Burlingame and Lyndon/Vassar; Osage County EMS; Osage City Police; Osage City Public Works and Osage County deputies. The American Red Cross was also called in to assist.
9:15 am Monday: Man, dog safe after house fire in Osage City
The occupant of a home in northern Osage City got out safely after a fire Monday morning.
The Osage City Police Department says fire was reported at 403 Lakin around 4 am. A barking dog alerted the home occupant about the fire, so both got out of the house without injuries.
The fire was contained to the interior of the home. The scope of damage inside the house has not been announced. The cause and origination point are both pending.
Osage County fire departments from Lyndon/Vassar and Burlingame responded to the fire, as did Osage County EMS, Osage City Police and Osage County deputies. Osage City Public Works was also involved and the Office of Kansas State Fire Marshal will handle the investigation.
Osage City Police says the American Red Cross is getting called for potential assistance.
5:30 am Monday: Structure fire reported in Osage City
Work continues at the site of a reported structure fire in Osage City.
Initially, KVOE News was told the fire was at Fourth and Lincoln, putting the incident a block south of Osage City schools and less than a block east of ORBIS Corporation. The cross streets have been corrected to Fourth and Lakin, or five blocks north of the school complex and two blocks south of the Flint Hills Nature Trail.
The official address has not been divulged and all other details are currently pending.
