This is a big weekend for the Salvation Army of Emporia.
Badges United will occupy the schedule Saturday morning, with the Emporia Lions Club ringing bells in the afternoon. Salvation Army Capt. Mylie Hadden says this event demonstrates the community’s support for the Salvation Army and its work.
Lyon County deputies will be at Bluestem Farm and Ranch, with Emporia Police and Emporia Fire at Walmart on Saturday morning. Lions Club members will ring at all three locations after noon.
Recent bell-ringing efforts have kept the Salvation Army on track financially with at least $6,000 donated the past two weeks to the drive, which ends right before Christmas.
Bell ringers are needed for the rest of the campaign. People can go online to registertoring.com or they can call the office at 620-342-3093.
