It was a good start to the Paul Terry Classic for the Emporia High basketball teams Thursday night.
The Lady Spartans opened up with a 63-32 win over Wichita Trinity.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says she liked the Spartans’ defense against the Lady Knights.
Rebecca Snyder led the way for the Lady Spartans with 20 points.
Meanwhile, the Spartans defeated Spring Hill 70-41. A 15-0 Emporia High run to start the game was the difference.
Coach Lee Baldwin enjoyed the start.
Parker Leeds led the Spartans with 13 points.
Both the Spartans and Lady Spartans are now 2-0 on the season. They’ll play Hayden in the second round of the Paul Terry Classic Friday night at White Auditorium. Game times are 6:30 p.m. for the girls, and 8:15 p.m. for the boys. You can listen to the games on 14 KVOE-AM and 96.9 FM with coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m.
Hayden’s girls needed overtime to defeat Spring Hill 60-54, while the Hayden boys defeated Wichita Trinity, 82-45.
