Friday’s power pole incident in Osage City kept the power and cable service offline for nearly nine hours and rerouted traffic for most of that afternoon and evening.
Osage City Police officers say a semi snagged an unlisted number of power lines near the junction of Kansas Highway 170 and Safford Street just before 1 pm. The city’s Facebook page says two poles were damaged and had to be reset.
Until they were restored around 9:30 pm, power and cable TV were offline north of Market, Fifth Street east to Forrest Gragg Drive and the Romine Ridge area near South Cemetery. Travel was also shut down on Martin between the Osage City High School football field and Market as well as K-170 from Police headquarters to Safford.
Crews from Osage City, Burlingame and Mediacom worked to restore services. Additional details about the initial incident have not been released.
