During this season of giving, leaders of the Emporia Rescue Mission are hopeful you will consider giving a donation to assist those in greatest need.
During a recent appearance on KVOE’s Talk of Emporia, Rescue Mission Director Lee Alderman announced that the Emporia Men’s Shelter, now in its new home at the former Girl Scouts Center, is currently full up on residents. Alderman says all of the men who pass through their doors are often looking to restart their lives.
With that in mind, Alderman detailed some of the greatest needs at the shelter during the holiday season.
Additionally, Carol Alderman says they are also full of residents at Shiloh Home of Hope. Alderman says the needs at Shiloh do differ greatly from those of the Men’s Shelter, however, the need is also great during this time of year. In addition to baby formula, children’s clothing, over-the-counter children’s medications and basic hygiene supplies for all ages, Alderman says building maintenance has also been a major focus for Shiloh this year.
In a word, Alderman says this has been a “rough year” for maintenance around the building.
If you are interested in donating to the Emporia Rescue Mission you can take donations to the Emporia Men’s Shelter at 1232 East 12th Street, Shiloh Home of Hope at 615 Congress or call 620-794-2977 for more information.
