The Emporia High basketball teams continued their winning ways Tuesday night against Shawnee Mission North.
The Spartans defeated the Bison, 59-46. Emporia High led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter and only led 28-26 at halftime. The Bison went on a 15-0 run and led by as many as six after the Spartans led by as many as nine.
Emporia High gained some separation in the fourth quarter after leading 42-38 after three quarters. The Spartans led by as many as 14 late in the contest.
Coach Lee Baldwin says the adjustments needed at halftime were things the Spartans have done before all season.
Drew Hess led Emporia High with 14 points, while Cooper Rech had 13.
Meanwhile, the Emporia High girls cruised to a 48-20 victory.
The Lady Spartans led by as many as 32 in the contest. Even though it was a 28-point win, Coach Carolyn Dorsey says they played at the same level as the Lady Bison.
Rebecca Snyder led Emporia High with 22 points.
